SEMH Teaching Assistant at Education World

Location: Gateshead, NE21

Education World is currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a school team in Gateshead. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a year 6 child with SEMH needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a child in Key Stage 2 (KS2) who has a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Communication, and Behavioral needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and support to a year 6 student with SEN.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to assess student progress and adjust support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting.
