School Cleaner – Blyth
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dedicated School Cleaner to join a welcoming primary school in Blyth from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and helping to create a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene is an important part of the school's daily operation, and the successful School Cleaner will become a valued member of the wider school team.
This is a part-time position working Monday to Friday from 15:30–17:45, commencing in September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, corridors, offices, and communal areas to a high standard.
- Clean and sanitise toilets and washroom facilities.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors throughout designated areas of the school.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Wipe and sanitise surfaces, desks, and frequently touched areas.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies where required.
- Use cleaning equipment and products safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Report any maintenance, damage, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
Essential Criteria
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS – essential.
- A reliable and punctual approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and manage cleaning responsibilities effectively.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- The ability to follow health and safety procedures and cleaning instructions.
- Flexibility and a positive approach to working as part of a wider school team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Criteria
- Previous cleaning experience within a school or office-based environment.
- Experience working within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe cleaning practices.
- Previous experience using professional cleaning equipment and products.
