Carbon Reduction Plan
We are dedicated to reducing emissions across our operations, supply chain and the services we provide to schools, academies, colleges and education professionals. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out the steps we are taking today, as well as our long-term strategy to operate more sustainably, reduce our carbon footprint and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Education World Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: 2025
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations
This is our first reporting year and therefore our reporting period is being used as our Baseline Year. Emissions have been estimated based on office energy usage, staff commuting, business travel and waste generation.
Baseline Year and Current Emissions Reporting
| EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO₂e) |
|---|---|
| Scope 1 | 2.89 |
| Scope 2 | 2.20 |
| Scope 3 (Included Sources) | 5.5 |
| Total Emissions | 10.59 |
Emissions Reduction Targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving NetZero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
- 2026: Reduce office energy use by 15% (approx. 4.9 tCO₂e for electricity and gas)
- 2028: Reduce commuting emissions by 25% through sustainable travel measures
- 2030: Achieve 100% renewable electricity supply for office operations
- 2050: Achieve Net Zero across all Scopes
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to approximately 8.5 tCO₂e by 2030, representing a 20% reduction.
