Are you passionate about education and looking to kickstart or continue your career working with young people? Education World is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and adaptable individuals to join our team on a casual basis as Secondary School Support Assistants, with flexible opportunities available across Newcastle, Northumberland, and the wider North East.

This is a fantastic casual, flexible opportunity which could suit university students, those working weekends, graduates, or anyone looking to build valuable experience within secondary education around other commitments.

Depending on your experience and interests, opportunities could include working as a Learning Support Assistant, 1:1 Support Assistant, Exam Invigilator, or Cover Supervisor, across a range of mainstream secondary and specialist school settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students who require additional assistance
  • Support students with SEN, SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs where appropriate
  • Assist with classroom and behaviour management strategies
  • Supervise students during lessons or when covering classes where appropriate
  • Support the smooth and effective running of examinations
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage their engagement in education

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different secondary school environments
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject is desirable
  • Flexibility to accept shifts at short notice
  • A DBS on the Update Service would be hugely beneficial
  • Reference details covering the last 2 years
  • Proof of address and right to work in the UK
