Catering Assistant – Sunderland & Washington

We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistants to join welcoming secondary schools in Sunderland and Washington. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working as part of a busy team and are committed to providing a high standard of service within a school environment.
The successful Catering Assistants will support the effective day-to-day running of the school catering service, helping to prepare and serve food while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
As a Catering Assistant, you will work closely with the wider catering team to provide an efficient and friendly service to students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.
Provide a friendly and efficient service to students and staff.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout kitchen and dining areas.
Assist with washing up and cleaning catering equipment and work surfaces.
Follow food hygiene, allergen, and health and safety procedures.
Support the safe storage and rotation of food and catering supplies.
Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas.
Work collaboratively with the wider catering team during busy service periods.
Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous catering, kitchen, hospitality, or food service experience – desirable.
A good understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices.
The ability to work effectively within a busy team environment.
Strong reliability and punctuality.
Good communication and customer service skills.
A flexible and proactive approach to work.
The ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
