We are seeking a reliable and experienced School Cook to join a welcoming primary school in Morpeth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled catering professional who takes pride in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for children in a school environment.

 

As a School Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals within a busy school kitchen, ensuring all food is produced to a high standard and meets dietary and hygiene requirements. The successful School Cook will play an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils through well-balanced school meals.

 

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 10:00 – 13:45 (Part-Time)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals as a School Cook in line with school menu requirements.
  • Ensure food is prepared safely, hygienically, and in accordance with food safety standards.
  • As a School Cook, manage food preparation, portion control, and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, following health and safety procedures.
  • Support stock control, ordering, and food storage management.
  • Cater for dietary requirements and allergies where required.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and school staff to ensure smooth meal service.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working in a catering environment – essential.
  • Experience working as a School Cook or within school catering – desirable.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety, and dietary requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A positive, reliable, and team-focused approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
