Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – County Durham

We're recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a welcoming secondary school in County Durham from September.
You'll work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills they need both inside and outside the classroom.
No two days will be the same. From supporting lessons and managing sensory needs to encouraging communication and independence, you'll become an important part of each pupil's school experience.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting pupils aged 11–16 across the school
- Providing individual and small-group assistance
- Helping pupils access differentiated learning
- Supporting pupils with Autism and complex SEND
- Encouraging independence and self-advocacy
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting sensory and regulation strategies
- Helping pupils develop essential life and social skills
- Building strong relationships with pupils and staff
What we're looking for
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
- A calm, patient and understanding approach
- Confidence working with challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for SEND
- Reliability and a positive attitude
