The Situation

A large college group based across the country contacted Education World to help fill several specialist roles at short notice from their Newcastle setting. The contact in the college explained “I understand this is short notice and you may not be able to sort this by Monday for me.”

The college needed 4 British Sign Language specialists to work 1:1 with pupils in a work placement setting in various locations across the North East. The college had never really looked at agencies previously for such roles as they always believed that agencies were too expensive and couldn’t react and cater for such needs at short notice.

Our Action
Once we received the phone call from the college on Thursday, we put together a plan and communicated it to the college so they were fully informed at every step of the process.

Using our skills and resources we managed to interview, recruit and place the 4 specialists in time to start on Monday. Failure to fill these vacancies would have caused the college a huge set back and would have meant the pupils wouldn't have been able to continue their placement or obtain their qualification. 

The Result
We managed not only to fill the roles within 2 working days but we also had additional staff recruited in case of any absences. Our client who has now developed into a loyal client was delighted that we filled the requirements so quickly.

The pupils were thereafter able to gain employment and acquire the skills to progress in their career due to the provision of talented staff from Education World.

The college continue to use Education World as their preferred supplier of supply staff acknowledging the excellent value for money, the efficiency of our service and our after care in terms of invoicing and payroll.

The Situation

A school business manager contacted Education World and explained; “I have a challenge for you and don’t expect you to fill this overnight, as this is something we had put out to many agencies previously who were unable to find the right candidate even with notice.” The school went on to explain they had an urgent need for a specialist support worker to work 1:1 with a pupil with challenging behaviour. They required a fast turn around so that the pupil’s education was not affected.


Our Actions

Upon receiving the call from the school, we quickly yet thoroughly established the specific requirements for the school but more importantly the pupil. After gaining an in depth understanding of these requirements, we began to short list candidates who we identified as having the relevant skills, knowledge and experience needed to successfully establish a respectful relationship with this pupil and help them to thrive. 


The Result

The ideal candidate was carefully selected for this role and thoroughly briefed on the school's and pupil's requirements, expectations, procedures and policies. We filled this complicated requirements within 2 days to the delight of both the school who has struggled for so long and the candidate who was excited to have been presented with such an exciting opportunity to work in his specialist field.

The school now has ultimate faith that if any other requirements arise, Education World can fill them efficiently and effectively. The schools was so pleased that they recommended Education World to all the other schools in the academy group and the LEA business manager meetings.

The Situation
Typically, schools are apprehensive about finding supply staff that meet their high standards and also fit in with their staff and pupils seamlessly, without causing too much disruption and affecting their pupil’s performance. This is especially important when high volume of supply staff are required. Education World were contacted by a rural school that had an urgent need for several support assistants to start on a long term basis.

Our Actions
After speaking with the school and identifying why they required so many staff on a long term basis, we then went through each individual role and what year groups were required and the needs for each class in order to select the right candidate for each role not just for their skills and knowledge but also personality and distance to the school.

The Result
The school were extremely grateful that we had selected all the right staff in a timely manner as other agencies had struggled in the past. All members of staff improved the relationships with the pupils in question. The 6 members of staff were meant to be working for 1 term but due to their success they have been kept on for yet an other term. This has now given the confidence to the school that if any supply needs are required that Education World can not only fill the requirements but do so with assurances that the staff will be carefully selected. In addition the school also commented and praised the fact that candidates were sourced locally, which is vitally important due to the rural location, as a result the school now has consistency and stability for their pupils. We don’t just work with schools, we like to establish a long-term partnership with them adding value way beyond supply.

Hylton C. Case Study

Hylton Castle found themselves, throughout last academic year with an out of the ordinary high demand for staff. The school faced the challenge of finding cover for not one, but four full time teacher absences due to unforeseen circumstances.


Typically schools are apprehensive about finding supply teachers to match the quality of their permanent staff, and are concerned that replacing this number of staff would cause disruption and ultimately effect pupil performance.


Education World was contacted by Hylton Castle for support and guidance in filling these temporary vacancies. Together, they consulted about the specific requirements for each vacancy which led to Education World submitting the CVs of quality candidates, carefully selected for each role. Education World then arranged both interviews and free trial lessons with the school to ensure they could make the most informed decision. 
The teachers ultimately selected by the school went on to excel in their roles. They received fantastic feedback from pupils, colleagues and parents alike and even contributed to the school receiving an overall grading of ‘Good’ by Ofsted. If that wasn’t enough, one of the supply teachers was even offered a permanent contract with the school and Education World was more than happy to facilitate this transfer with no placement fees.
