We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school in Gateshead on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring DT lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical knowledge.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who can motivate students and make a real impact within our department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach a range of DT disciplines such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Food Technology (depending on your expertise)
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating learning environment, particularly within workshops or specialist rooms
  • Contribute to departmental planning and school-wide events
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the wider school community

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching DT at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential; KS5 desirable but not required)
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to engage students of varying abilities
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
