As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils across the secondary age range, helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and structured learning environment where all students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across a range of secondary subjects, working with individuals and small groups.
  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging, accessible, and differentiated learning activities.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND where required.
  • Help maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils’ academic progress as well as their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Adapt resources and approaches to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs, and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Monitor and feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with young people in a secondary school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach when working with adolescents.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • An understanding of inclusive education and supporting learners with additional needs.
