We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years setting in Sunderland from August 2026. The setting is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships. Staff work collaboratively to provide high-quality Early Years provision that supports each child's individual development, wellbeing, and independence.

As a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning and development, working closely with colleagues and families to provide engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

This is a full-time, permanent position starting in August 2026. The setting operates between 07:30 and 18:00, with flexibility available around working hours within these operating times.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and education for children within the Early Years setting.
• Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
• Support children's communication, language, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
• Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to planning and individual next steps.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Promote children's independence, confidence, and wellbeing through positive interactions.
• Support daily routines and ensure children's individual care needs are met.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and setting policies are followed at all times.
• Work collaboratively as part of the wider Early Years team to provide exceptional provision.

Essential Criteria

• A minimum recognised Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare – essential.
• Candidates who are currently working towards their Level 3 Early Years qualification will be considered, provided the qualification will be completed before August 2026.
• A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Flexibility to work full-time hours within the setting's operating hours of 07:30–18:00.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Criteria

• Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
• Experience supporting babies, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification.
• Knowledge of child development and effective observation and assessment practices.
• Experience planning engaging Early Years activities and learning opportunities.
