Music Teacher – Greenwich
We are seeking a passionate and creative Music Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Greenwich. As a Music Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate. You will join a supportive Creative Arts department that values innovation, collaboration, and providing students with a wide range of musical experiences, both within the classroom and through extracurricular activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Teach Key Stage 5 Music where appropriate, depending on experience and departmental requirements.
- Inspire students to develop their musical knowledge, practical performance skills, composition, and appreciation of a wide range of musical genres.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, using assessment effectively to inform planning and raise attainment.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where all students can thrive.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the continued success of the Music department.
- Support and lead extracurricular music activities, including choirs, ensembles, concerts, productions, or school performances where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning across the department.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
Essential Criteria
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- The ability to teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for music education.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Criteria
- Experience teaching Key Stage 5 Music.
- Experience leading or supporting choirs, ensembles, orchestras, or other extracurricular music activities.
- The ability to teach practical and theoretical aspects of the Music curriculum.
- Experience preparing students for GCSE and A Level Music examinations.
- A passion for continuous professional development and collaborative working.
