Early Career Teacher (ECT) – Secondary

Education World is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Secondary ECTs to join supportive schools across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. This is an exciting opportunity for newly qualified teachers to develop their practice, gain experience across key stages, and make a real impact on pupils’ learning and development.
The Role
As a Secondary ECT, you will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in your specialist subject, while benefiting from structured support and guidance. You will join a nurturing, collaborative school environment that encourages professional growth, confidence, and creativity in teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons in line with the National Curriculum for your specialist subject, with mentoring support
- Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
- Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive classroom environment
- Build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents
- Participate in induction, mentoring, and professional development programmes as part of your ECT pathway
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recently qualified or completing induction as an ECT
- Passionate, creative, and committed to engaging secondary pupils in their learning
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
