A school in Gateshead are seeking a knowledgeable Teaching Assistant to join their team to support a pupil with SEND needs. This is a full-time position where you will play a vital role in supporting a child to access the classroom and school facilities in a meaningful way.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support a pupil who requires additional assistance with mobility and Send needs.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and materials.
  • Support the social and emotional development of pupils, promoting positive behaviour and well-being.
  • Help maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support pupil progress and achievement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as SEN Support or in a similar role within a primary school setting is desirable.
  • The role will require personal care experience - cleaning and changing the child.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
  • A passion for working with young children and supporting their educational development.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom.
