Teaching Assistant x2 – Northumberland

We are seeking two dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Northumberland. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate practitioners who are committed to helping young learners achieve their full potential within a nurturing and inclusive school environment.

The school is a well-established primary setting with a strong reputation for providing a caring, child-centred education. Staff are committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong relationships with families, and high expectations for both academic achievement and personal development.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to provide high-quality classroom support, helping pupils access learning, develop key skills, and make positive progress throughout their primary education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning by working with individual pupils and small groups across the primary age range.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils who require additional help with their learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour and use effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils' engagement and wellbeing.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs where appropriate.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support positive pupil outcomes.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience supporting children within a primary school or educational setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Experience supporting young learners with a range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred Criteria

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience delivering small group interventions.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective classroom support strategies.
  • A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school.

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young learners and creating a positive learning environment.
