1:1 Teaching Assistant – Ashington
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school close to Ashington. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about providing personalised support to help a pupil access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within a nurturing school environment.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to provide tailored support that meets the pupil’s individual needs, helping them engage with lessons and make meaningful progress across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, helping a pupil engage with classroom learning and activities.
- Assist the pupil with tasks across the curriculum, supporting understanding, participation, and independence.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement personalised learning strategies and support plans.
- Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, encouraging confidence and positive learning habits.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
- Encourage inclusion within the classroom, supporting participation in group activities and peer interaction.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A valid Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification – desirable.
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a school or educational setting.
- Experience providing one-to-one support or supporting children with additional needs – desirable.
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
