Nursery Practitioner – Newcastle (Part-Time)

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner to join a welcoming and supportive nursery setting on a part-time basis, working 3 or 4 days per week. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated early years professional who is passionate about supporting young children's development and helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will work closely with colleagues to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, and thrive during the crucial early years of their development. The nursery can offer flexibility with either a 3-day or 4-day working pattern, making this an ideal opportunity for candidates seeking a better work-life balance while remaining in a rewarding childcare role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the learning, development, and wellbeing of children within the nursery setting.
  • Deliver engaging, play-based activities that promote children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress, contributing to planning and next steps for learning.
  • Support children's communication, language, literacy, and early numeracy development.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meal times, personal care, and transitions throughout the day.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements, and nursery policies are followed at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to maintain high standards of care and education.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A relevant Early Years qualification – desirable.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications may be considered, subject to nursery requirements and staffing ratios.
  • Experience working with children within an early years or childcare setting.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A good understanding of child development and early years practice.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This role would suit a passionate Nursery Practitioner who enjoys working with young children and is committed to helping them develop the skills, confidence, and foundations they need for future success. It is particularly well suited to candidates seeking a part-time role of 3 or 4 days per week within a supportive and nurturing nursery environment.
