This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about providing personalised support to help a pupil access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within a positive and inclusive environment.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to provide tailored support that meets the pupil’s individual needs, helping them engage with lessons and make meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, helping a pupil engage with classroom learning and activities.
  • Assist the pupil with tasks across the curriculum, supporting understanding and participation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement personalised learning strategies and support plans.
  • Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, encouraging confidence and independence.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO where appropriate.
  • Encourage inclusion within the classroom, supporting participation in group activities and peer interaction.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are always followed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting.
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach when supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual learners.
