1:1 Teaching Assistant – Washington (Mornings)
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a Key Stage 2 pupil during morning sessions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to helping children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the pupil, teachers, and wider school staff to ensure tailored support that meets the child’s individual needs, enabling them to fully access the curriculum and reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to a KS2 pupil, helping them engage with classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
- Assist the pupil with learning tasks, ensuring understanding and confidence in key subject areas.
- Support the development of social, emotional, and behavioural skills, promoting independence and positive learning habits.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
- Monitor the pupil’s progress, keeping detailed records to inform ongoing planning and interventions.
- Facilitate inclusion within the classroom, encouraging participation in group activities and fostering positive peer relationships.
- Support the pupil with any additional needs, including implementing specific interventions as advised by the SENCO or specialist staff.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment in line with safeguarding and school policies.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Previous experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in a 1:1 or SEND support role.
- A patient, caring, and flexible approach, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- An understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum and strategies to support children with additional needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
