Careers Teacher – Newcastle
We are seeking a motivated and supportive Careers Teacher to join an inclusive alternative provision setting in the Newcastle area. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Careers Teacher to work within an environment that is committed to helping young people develop confidence, aspirations, and the skills needed for future success.
The setting supports students with a range of additional needs and barriers to education, providing a structured and nurturing environment where positive relationships and personalised support are central to student progress. Staff work collaboratively to help students re-engage with learning and prepare for life beyond education, making this a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Careers Teacher.
As a Careers Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students to explore future pathways, develop employability skills, and gain a better understanding of education, training, and career opportunities available to them.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging careers education sessions tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Support students in exploring future education, training, and employment pathways.
- As a Careers Teacher, help students develop employability, communication, and life skills.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage confidence, aspiration, and engagement.
- Support employer engagement activities, careers events, and work-related learning opportunities where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to support student outcomes.
- Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and supportive strategies.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) – essential.
- A secure understanding of careers education and employer engagement.
- Previous experience working within a secondary school, college, or alternative provision setting – desirable.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support abilities.
- A proactive, adaptable, and resilient approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
