Chemistry Teacher – Newcastle upon Tyne

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Chemistry Teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality science education and inspiring a love of Chemistry in young people.

 

As a Chemistry Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, well-structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The successful Chemistry Teacher will work closely with the Science department to support student progress, wellbeing, and academic achievement through high-quality teaching and assessment practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons as a Chemistry Teacher across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Use effective assessment for learning (AFL) strategies to monitor, track, and support student progress.
  • As a Chemistry Teacher, support students of all abilities, including those with SEND, through differentiation and tailored support.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes learning and high expectations.
  • Contribute to the development of the Science curriculum and departmental resources.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support teaching and learning across the school.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support students’ personal development and academic success.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Chemistry Teacher specialism – essential.
  • Experience working as a Chemistry Teacher at secondary level (ECTs and experienced teachers welcome to apply).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for delivering engaging lessons as a Chemistry Teacher.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting all learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
