English Teacher – Gateshead
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Gateshead area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic English Teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons and inspiring a love of English in young people.
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The successful English Teacher will play a key role in supporting student progress, developing literacy skills, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons as an English Teacher across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Use effective assessment for learning (AFL) strategies to monitor and support student progress.
- As an English Teacher, differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Support students in developing reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental resources.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support teaching and learning.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an English specialism – essential.
- Experience working as an English Teacher within a secondary school setting (ECTs and experienced teachers welcome).
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English.
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
- A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting all learners.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
