We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Gateshead area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic English Teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons and inspiring a love of English in young people.

 

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The successful English Teacher will play a key role in supporting student progress, developing literacy skills, and fostering a positive learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons as an English Teacher across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Use effective assessment for learning (AFL) strategies to monitor and support student progress.
  • As an English Teacher, differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental resources.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support teaching and learning.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an English specialism – essential.
  • Experience working as an English Teacher within a secondary school setting (ECTs and experienced teachers welcome).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting all learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
