Teaching Assistant – Newcastle
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newcastle. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students across the classroom, with a particular focus on working with pupils who have additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning as a Teaching Assistant, working with individuals and small groups.
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum.
- As a Teaching Assistant, assist in managing behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Adapt resources and activities to meet the needs of different learners.
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support student progress and wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and confidence.
- Monitor and report on student progress where required.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting individuals with SEN – essential.
- A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practices.
- A relevant teaching or support qualification – highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
