Early Years Teaching Assistant – Northumberland
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive early years setting in Northumberland. As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing through high-quality, play-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning as an Early Years Teaching Assistant, working with individuals and small groups.
- Assist in delivering engaging, play-based activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Support children’s communication, language, social, and emotional development.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to planning and next steps.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support children’s learning and wellbeing.
- Support children in developing independence and positive behaviour.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A valid Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification – essential.
- Experience working within an early years setting (nursery or reception).
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to create engaging and supportive learning experiences through play.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
