EYFS Teaching Assistant – Washington
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years team in Washington. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about supporting young children in the earliest stages of their education and helping them develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years staff to support children’s learning and development through high-quality, play-based practice in a nurturing and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning as an EYFS Teaching Assistant, working with individuals and small groups of children.
- Assist in delivering engaging, play-based activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Support children’s communication, language, social, emotional, and early numeracy development.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where children can thrive.
- Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to planning and next steps.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and Early Years team to support daily routines and learning activities.
- Support children in developing independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification – essential.
- Experience working within an Early Years setting (nursery or reception) – essential.
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A good understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
