General Teacher – Newcastle Area
We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic General Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive alternative provision setting in the Newcastle area. The setting supports students with a range of additional needs and barriers to education, providing a structured and nurturing environment where relationships and consistency are key. Staff work collaboratively to create engaging learning experiences and support students in developing confidence, resilience, and independence.
As a General Teacher, you will deliver lessons across a range of subjects, adapting your teaching approach to meet the varying needs of students and ensuring all learners remain engaged and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across a variety of subjects.
- Support students with differing needs, abilities, and learning styles.
- As a General Teacher, create a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes engagement and progress.
- Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and supportive strategies.
- Differentiate lessons and resources to meet individual student needs.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and participation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and wider staff to support student development and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- The ability to confidently teach and cover multiple subjects.
- Previous experience working within a secondary school or alternative provision setting – desirable.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible, proactive, and resilient approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
