Geography Teacher
Location: Alfreton area, Derbyshire
Start Date: January 2026
Pay Scale: MPS/UPS (ECTs welcome) – equivalent to approx. £140–£220 per day, depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)
The Role
We are supporting a well-regarded secondary school in the Alfreton area to appoint a passionate Geography Teacher from January 2026. You’ll deliver engaging KS3–KS4 Geography lessons, contribute to curriculum planning, and play a full part in the life of a friendly Humanities team focused on strong outcomes and enrichment.
What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent; ECTs are encouraged to apply

Successful experience teaching Geography at KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)

Strong behaviour management and high expectations of pupils

Evidence of effective planning, assessment, and differentiation

A collaborative approach and commitment to CPD and whole-school initiatives
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver creative, knowledge-rich Geography lessons aligned to the school’s curriculum

Track progress and use assessment to inform next steps and close gaps

Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture with clear routines and high standards

Contribute to department meetings, moderation, and trips/enrichment where appropriate

Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues
