Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – South Tyneside
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school environment. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting classroom learning, working closely with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and providing targeted support to pupils across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of high-quality lessons as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, working with individuals, small groups, or whole classes when required.
- Assist the class teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering engaging learning activities.
- Lead small group sessions or interventions to support pupil progress across the curriculum.
- Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers to support effective assessment and planning.
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support pupils’ academic and personal development.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are always followed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A relevant Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working in a primary or secondary school setting.
- Confidence in supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to lead small groups and support whole-class learning when required.
- A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting pupils and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
