Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – South Tyneside

 

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident practitioner who is passionate about supporting high-quality teaching and learning while helping pupils achieve their full potential.

 

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting classroom learning, working closely with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and providing targeted support to pupils across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of high-quality lessons as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, working with individuals, small groups, or whole classes when required.
  • Assist the class teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Lead small group sessions or interventions to support pupil progress across the curriculum.
  • Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers to support effective assessment and planning.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support pupils’ academic and personal development.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are always followed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A relevant Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working in a primary or secondary school setting.
  • Confidence in supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to lead small groups and support whole-class learning when required.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting pupils and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This role would suit a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant who enjoys working collaboratively with teachers and supporting pupils to succeed in a positive and engaging learning environment.
