Science Technician – North Tyneside
We are seeking a reliable and organised Science Technician to join a supportive and well-established secondary school in North Tyneside. As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the science department.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
- Support teachers and students during practical activities where required.
- As a Science Technician, ensure laboratories and preparation areas are maintained to a high standard.
- Maintain and organise stock, equipment, and chemicals within the science department.
- Carry out routine checks and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times within the department.
- Assist with ordering and managing science resources and supplies.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support effective delivery of the science curriculum.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous laboratory or science technician experience – essential.
- Experience working within a school or educational setting – desirable.
- A strong understanding of health and safety procedures within a laboratory environment.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, flexible, and professional approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
