We are seeking three dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Workers to join a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

The school caters for pupils aged 2–19 with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex additional needs. Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is committed to delivering highly personalised support to meet individual learning, communication, and developmental needs.

Staff benefit from working within a purpose-built specialist environment featuring excellent facilities, including sensory spaces, specialist learning areas, therapeutic support services, and a strong focus on promoting independence and preparing pupils for adulthood. The school has an outstanding reputation for its nurturing ethos, collaborative approach, and commitment to ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve success.

As an SEN Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, build independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised support plans.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and engagement.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support where required.

  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
