Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Afternoons with HLTA Responsibilities)
Location: Derby (KS2)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Scale: £100 - £120 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming KS2 team in a Derby primary school. This role will involve typical teaching assistant duties in the mornings, with Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) responsibilities in the afternoons – including leading whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher. The position is ideal for a confident TA with proven experience of delivering lessons and managing a classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Recent experience working in a KS2 classroom

  • Proven ability to lead classes and deliver lessons (HLTA or cover experience essential)

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners

  • Knowledge of the KS2 curriculum

  • A positive and adaptable approach to supporting learning

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to the teacher during morning sessions

  • Plan, deliver, and manage lessons in the afternoons when taking on HLTA responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for all pupils

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure learning objectives are met

  • Provide feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher
