Qualified Teaching Assistant - PRU in Newcastle

Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit in Newcastle where young people are given a fresh start providing an opportunity for them to return to mainstream education where possible. The successful candidate will work with secondary-age students, providing essential support and guidance in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
The Role:
- Full Time, Monday to Friday
- Working 8-4
- Based on site in Newcastle
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with their academic and social development
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse needs
- Help manage student behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students
Requirements:
- Qualified Teaching Assistant status (Level 2 or above)
- Experience working with secondary-age students in a PRU or similar setting
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Patience, resilience, and a passion for supporting challenging students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
