Year 2 Teacher (Mon-Thurs) - Sunderland

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and helping pupils reach their full potential in Key Stage 1. The role is part-time, working Monday to Thursday.

 

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and well-structured lessons, supporting pupils as they develop core skills in literacy and numeracy, and preparing them for the transition into Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons as a Year 2 Teacher, in line with the national curriculum.
  • Support pupils’ development in reading, writing, and mathematics, building confidence and independence.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, using data to inform planning and targeted support.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to support academic and personal development.
  • Prepare pupils for end of Key Stage 1 expectations and assessments.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 2.
  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment expectations.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
