The Role
Education World are recruiting a confident and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a school in Gateshead. This role involves supporting pupils who may face challenges with emotional regulation, social interaction, or behaviour. You will work closely with students to help them re-engage with learning, develop resilience, and build positive relationships within school.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting young people with behavioural needs in a school, youth work, or mentoring environment
- A calm, resilient, and supportive approach to managing behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of behaviour strategies and restorative practices (advantageous but not essential)
- A genuine passion for helping pupils improve confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering one-to-one or small group behaviour support for identified pupils
- Assisting students in managing emotions and behaviour inside and outside the classroom
- Supporting teachers with behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
- Building trust and acting as a positive role model for pupils
- Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to behaviour support plans
- Assisting with wider school inclusion and pastoral initiatives
