We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Brentwood on a permanent basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality history lessons and inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of the past.

 

As a History Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering an engaging and well-structured curriculum, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering a love of history among students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons as a History Teacher, in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to support GCSE classes.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage learners and develop analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, using data to inform planning and targeted support.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department to support curriculum development and student outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to support academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • UK-trained teacher – essential.
  • Experience teaching History at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for history education.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
