SEN Teaching Assistant - South Tyneside
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in South Tyneside. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing learning environment.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored academic support, ensuring pupils can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted academic support as an SEN Teaching Assistant, working with pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Support children with SEN to engage with lessons and develop key skills across the curriculum.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing personalised learning plans and support strategies.
- Help pupils build confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCO.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupils’ academic development.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN academically.
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to individual learning needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
