We are currently working on behalf of a valued Hexham-based school to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant. The school previously worked with another agency but were unable to secure a suitable long-term candidate. They are currently managing without support but intend to review profiles and progress appointments from January.

The Role

  • Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
  • Hours:
    • Full-time, Monday–Friday OR
    • Part-time / flexible working considered (3–4 days per week or shorter hours across 5 days)
  • Start Date & Duration: January 2025; long-term (subject to funding)

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a compassionate and resilient TA who can build effective rapport with a pupil demonstrating very challenging behaviour.

You will ideally have:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience supporting pupils with significant behavioural needs
  • Strong de-escalation skills and a calm, consistent approach
  • Confidence delivering personalised support and following behaviour plans
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
