Year 1 Teacher - Peckham
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Peckham. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting pupils as they transition from the Early Years into Key Stage 1.
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and structured lessons, helping pupils build strong foundations in phonics, literacy, and numeracy while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons as a Year 1 Teacher, in line with the national curriculum.
- Support pupils’ development in phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, using data to inform planning and targeted support.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Support pupils in their transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1, building confidence and independence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to support development and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
- Strong knowledge of phonics and the KS1 curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
